Shamelle's comment is very interesting. I iamgine we have all read numerous self-help, motivational, inspirational, personal development ..... books by a wide variety of authors. And, yes, I have seen the same thing said over and over again. Rhonda Byrne's book and DVD "The Secret" goes so far as to claim the message has been active;y suppressed.

My point is this: 1) the fact that the same material keeps showing up in books by different authors, under different genres in different generations means one thing ... the material represents tiem tested wisdom and truths and, 2) Perhaps it is time to stop reading it and acting on it!

I mean no disrespect to Shamelle, in fact, just the opposite. His comment triggered me to post a comment on my recent realization for myself. I thought it might have somme benefit to others by posting it.

I thought it appropriate that the list was blank in my email. Whatever works for you works, regardless of all the self-help and professional advice out there.

Thanks for this. I have to admit, poking fun at the "1,537 Things YOU Can Do TODAY!" writing style (I did a post like this recently too) is a guilty pleasure for me and it's nice to see someone else who seems to enjoy that too.

Stephen.. I love the note that the text is empty on purpose on your posting "Top 99 Personal Development Principles from the Greatest Gurus of All Time". But you forget that most people are followers.... and expect to be given the answers instead of working through them as you are doing. Your sharing your learnings with those who are interested is a great feat. Trying to help us understand how you got to the same place you are can be hard to put into words and communicate. I do appreciate your postings because they remind me of the many forgotten things or things I've temporarily put aside---Thank you for sharing.

Several thousand books exist today on the self-help market, but only 20 percent of those books actually have value. Usually, I have seen the "same" thing said in different ways..

Definitely, good idea to put it all together. I am sure the list would have been tedious to put together. Thanks
