I’ve been researching helicopter flight simulator, I’ve spotted a pattern. A new genre in its own right. This is separate and apart from the genre of larger flight simulator to which it already belongs.

The completely unique control mechanisms of helicopters set them apart from traditional flight sims, as they make the usually daunting task of taking off and landing much less harrowing.
They also improved upon the otherwise mundane task of flying from Point A to Point B, by making the task stimulating.

In many flight sims, autopilot often is a pilot’s best friend to avoid the rather tedious task of flying around. A good helicopter flight simulator makes flying more rewarding.

I'm British (boo... hiss!!!) so it's not really my place to comment on the state of the USA ... and I've never visited so have no first hand experience of your country.

It does seem that freedom as a stated value is crucial to the American experiment, but as a practical, pervasive way of living it's a bit harder to actually live by. Simplifying it horribly, it's maybe something to do with the rise of the corporation. The business world remains steadfastly undemocratic which has rather undermined America as a role model of democracy. Especially as business pretty much dictates political and private life for most.

Still .. I think it was a probably a good thing that the Brits allowed you to leave the empire ;-)

@Trey, I hope you are right about a new enlightenment. However, in the meantime we need to take direct action ourselves and live free.

Hi Stephen,

I've had to struggle with the fact that most of the voters in this country don't want to vote consistently with the ideals of the U.S.A. Usually, the people who "get it" are the ones who are accused of being what's wrong with Americans. And a lot of people who preach about freedom don't even believe in it.

However, I believe that we're moving closer to another enlightenment, and that a lot of people are going to learn, maybe the hard way, that we need to return to the fundamentals of our Constitution, and with our modern day outlook on it, we can return to being the great nation we started out as!

As for your freedom theme, I can understand what you're saying. Freedom is a very fundamental idea, and can be applied to lots of situations. We must learn to free ourselves from the shackles of our government, and from the shackles of our mind and bodies if we wish to truly live free.
