Hello Sue, first of all thanks for asking. There are many books and it depends on the person. The most practical and highly recommended single book I can give you is The Myth of Stress: Where Stress Really Comes From and How to Live a Happier and Healthier Life. This book teaches you a method to deal with stress and it works for me at least. Judging from the Amazon reviews it apparently works for others as well. I think two books by Srikumar S. Rao are also marvelous. Probably more than any other person he has taught me the art of peaceful well-being. His two books sound like they are business and work oriented but they really are not. Are You Ready to Succeed? Unconventional Strategies to Achieving Personal Mastery in Business and Life and Happiness at Work: Be Resilient, Motivated, and Successful - No Matter What are also highly recommended. Guy Finley has a new book and it is cheap and I really liked it. It has a more spiritual bend and I reviewed it on my blog a few days ago. It is not as comprehensive as Rao's books nor nearly as practical as the Myth of Stress, but it has a lot of wisdom in it if you can absorb it that will allow you to be at peace - The Courage to Be Free: Discover Your Original Fearless Self. Once again check the reviews on Amazon for all of these.

Sue, keep in mind what works for one person doesn't necessarily work for another, but these are some of my favorites.

You are right, now days we blow things up and make it out to be 100 times bigger than what it really is. I recently started to relax more and just take in what happens and try and make the best of it. I do admit that sometimes the pressure is to much and I burst. It's not often, but it does happen.

I think we put a lot of pressure on ourselves in this day and age and that's why there is so much stress. My parents have a farm where I go now and then and it's wonderful, get rid of stress and remember peace.

Not minding what happens is a great lesson. One teacher taught me to act rather than react to every situation that I find myself in. That is easier said than done especially when the childhood tapes start playing in my head and I allow fear or anger to take control. I like to remember to ask myself "How important is it?" and Dr. Phil's favorite "Is that working for you?" If I can remember to ask those questions, then I do pretty good.

Heya Stephen!

So often it is like that. I don't know if this is what you mean, but I often find with big fights (verbal) the sole cause is a tiny tiny little irrelevant thing, but that tiny little thing is often the last straw that breaks the camel's back.

Like even though it's ridiculous that a massive fights gets started over something really irrelevant (like leaving a dirty dish on a table), it is because problems have been building up so much that all it takes is that one little tiny thing.

I like the solution: "Come what may" :)

Enjoy the weekend! :)
