Eliminating Your Investment in the Outcome

by Stephen Mills on February 20, 2010

“We’re attached to a certain view, a given outcome, and when it doesn’t appear, we waste time mourning the world that we wanted that isn’t here.” – Seth Godin

In the video below, Srikumar S. Rao discusses the If… Then… mental trap and our investment in outcomes.  It is a medium length video of 18 minutes, and I realize in our ADD world, that is a long time.  But is it really?  I think you will find it time well spent.

I watched the entire thing. Thanks for bringing this to us. I find that I can apply that to growing my blog. The minute I achieve a goal, get more readers etc. my ego moves the line and it can be a continual state of “wanting.” I know better!
And this was a great reminder. I just spent the week in Chicago having fun…without any thought of my blog.

Thank you so much. So so simple – and crystallized into a concept for all of us. Now to look at the process and think about whether it is one that will take me on a path I would like to be on.
